Do differences between Japanese and English at the level of linguistic structures pose learning problems on L1 Japanese learners of English? Some accounts from the Principles and the Parameters model of Universal Grammar
The study explicated two linguistic forms that are assumed to be attributed to learning difficulties when L1 Japanese speakers acquire L2 English; those are relative clause placement (head parameter) and the pro-drop parameter. Both are discussed in the model of Generative Grammar, namely, the Principles and Parameters model of Universal Grammar (UG). |
